Usage of Big Data for Competitive Intelligence

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá možnostmi využití Big Data pro oblast Competitive Intelligence. V digitálním světě, kde je generováno obrovské množství dat každou minutu, jsou metody Competitive Intelligence pro plnění svého poslání již nedostačující a zapotřebí je asistence moderních technologií. Cílem této diplomové práce je popsat oblasti Competitive Intelligence a Big Data a možnosti jejich využití při získávání konkurenční výhody v dnešním digitálním světě. Práce je rozdělena do dvou větších částí – teoretické a praktické. Teoretická část práce se věnuje oblastem Competitive Intelligence a Big Data, jejich metodám a nástrojům. Čtenář je do obou oblastí uveden tak, aby získal potřebné informace a znalosti pro následující, druhou, část. Druhá, praktická, část uvádí tři příklady úspěšného využití Big Data pro získání konkurenční výhody. Součástí této části je také ukázka práce s Big Data na reálném problému v existující organizaci. Z práce vyplývá, že mají Big Data široké využití pro oblast Competitive Intelligence a přinášejí podniku vysoký potenciál v oblasti konkurenčního boje.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis follows possibilities of using Big Data for Competitive Intelligence. In the digital world, where massive amount of data is generated every minute, Competitive Intelligence methods are no longer enough to fulfill its mission and needs an assistance of modern technology. The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe the areas of Competitive Intelligence and Big Data and the possibilities of their use in gaining a competitive advantage in today's digital world. The thesis is divided into two major parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the areas of Competitive Intelligence and Big Data, their methods and tools. The reader is led to the both areas to gain the necessary knowledge for the next, second, part. The second, practical, part gives three examples of successful use of Big Data to gain a competitive advantage. Part of this section is also an example of working with Big Data on a real issue in an existing organization. The thesis shows that Big Data has a wide use for Competitive Intelligence and brings the company a high potential in competitive fight.
