Teplice´s healing springs in German written prints up to 1800

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce je poukázat na vývoj historického myšlení o teplických lázeňských pramenech v německy psaných tiscích vzniklých do roku 1800. Objasnit, kdo byli autoři píšící o teplických pramenech, postihnout způsob jejich přemýšlení o vzniku a působení léčivých pramenů a myšlení o přírodních jevech obecně. Dílčím cílem práce je sledování informačního transferu mezi jednotlivými autory, tzn., do jaké míry od sebe autoři navzájem čerpali informace o teplických pramenech. Dále se práce bude věnovat nástinu historie města Teplice od 17. do 19. století a historii a rozvoji lázeňství v kontextu česko-německé příhraniční oblasti.

Abstract:

The subject of this diploma thesis is to emphasise the historical development of Teplice's spa springs, which were mentioned in German written press to the year 1800. It also clarifies an identity of the authors who were writing about Teplice's spa springs, and finds the way of their thinking about the origin and effect of the healing springs. It also analyses their thinking about natural phenomena in general. The objective of this work is to monitor an informational transfer between different writers. Furthermore, It focuses on how much these writers relied on each other as a resource of information about Teplice's springs. This work also deals with a history of the Down Teplice from the 17. to the 19. century and a history and development of spa in the context of a Czech-German border area.
