Logistic growth model and its modifications

Abstract:

The subject of this bachelor thesis is the logistic growth model and its modifications. The thesis is divided into two parts, focusing on deterministic and stochastic models, whereas in both cases a continuous-time or a discrete-time is considered. The first part is focused on the deterministic logistic growth also known as logistic equation in continuous-time, and in discrete-time it is focused on the logistic map and its behaviour. The second part of the thesis describes stochastic population logistic growth models using discrete-time and continuous-time Markov chains. The aim of this thesis is to present the models mentioned above, to summarize information obtained from the different sources and to compare the growth models.

Abstract:

Tématem bakalářské práce je logistický model růstu a jeho modifikace. Práce se zabývá deterministickými a stochastickými modely, přičemž v obou případech uvažujeme spojitý nebo diskrétní čas. První část je zaměřena na logistickou rovnici ve spojitém čase a na logistickou mapu a její chování v diskrétním čase. Druhá část popisuje stochastické modely logistického růstu populace pomocí spojitých a diskrétních Markovských řetězců. Cílem práce je představit uvedené modely, shrnout informace získané z různých zdrojů a porovnat modely růstu.
