Impact of the coronavirus pandemic on bookstore operations and book distribution

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na chod knihkupectví a knižní distribuci v době koronavirové pandemie. Především pak na dopady pandemie, která se projevila na chodu knihkupectví a na celém knižním trhu. Práce má za úkol zjistit, jaká situace nastala v knihkupectvích a na knižním trhu s vypuknutím pandemie Covid-19, jak knihkupectví reagovala na vládní opatření a do jaké míry byla postižena knižní distribuce. Teoretická část charakterizuje základní pojmy, historii knižního trhu, pandemii Covid-19 a v neposlední řadě opatření, která si Covid-19 vyžádal. Praktická část bude celý vývoj knižního trhu zaznamenávat pomocí grafů a přinese srovnání s knižním trhem před vypuknutím pandemie a na jejím samotném vrcholu. Závěrem práce pak bude komplexní shrnutí dosavadního vývoje knižního trhu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the operation of bookstores and book distribution during a coronavirus pandemic. Above all, the effects of the pandemic, which affected the operation of the bookstore and the entire book market. The aim of this work is to find out what the situation occurred in bookstores and in the book market with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, how bookstores responded to government measures and to what extent book distribution was affected. The theoretical part characterizes the basic concepts, the history of the book market, the Covid-19 pandemic and, last but not least, the measures that Covid-19 requested. The practical part will record the whole development of the book market using graphs and will bring a comparison with the book market before the outbreak of the pandemic and at its very peak. The conclusion of the work will be a comprehensive summary of the current development of the book market.
