International trade policy of the USA – present and forecast

Abstract:

Směřování obchodních politik vyspělých států se posledních pár desetiletí ubíralo spíše liberalistickým směrem. Jedním ze států, který v tomto směru zažívá obrat jsou Spojené státy americké. Cílem této bakalářské práce je rozbor současného nastavení obchodní politiky Spojených států a jejích specifik. Autorka v práci hledá odpověď na otázku, zda se Donaldu Trumpovi podařilo dosáhnout určitých cílů stanovených v jeho obchodní agendě a zda kroky k dosažení těchto cílů respektují pravidla WTO. Rozbor je proveden na základě pozitiv a negativ dlouhodobých záměrů, pomocí metody komparace, analýzy, deskriptivní metody a korelační analýzy. Práce se dělí na 3 kapitoly, z nichž první je věnována obecné teorii obchodní politiky. Druhá kapitola je již specificky zacílena na obchodní politiku Spojených států s důrazem na protekcionistické kroky současné administrativy Donalda Trumpa. Nabízí také pohled na základní statistiky zahraničního obchodu USA a průběh obchodní války s Čínou. Poslední kapitola se věnuje zhodnocení kapitoly druhé a naplňuje cíl práce prostřednictvím zhodnocení vybraných bodů obchodní agendy prezidenta Trumpa a budoucího vývoje zahraničního obchodu USA.

Abstract:

Trade policies of developed countries have been moving mostly in liberalistic direction over the last few decades. One of the countries experiencing a turnaround is the United States of America. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to analyze the current trade policy settings in the United States and its specifics. The author seeks an answer to the question of whether Donald Trump has succeeded in achieving certain goals set out in his trade agenda and whether the steps to achieve these goals respect WTO rules. The analysis is performed on the basis of the positives and negatives of long-term intentions, using the method of comparison, analysis, descriptive method and correlation analysis. The work is divided into 3 chapters, the first of which is devoted to the general theory of trade policy. The second chapter is already specifically focused on US trade policy, with an emphasis on the protectionist actions of the current administration of Donald Trump. It also gives a look at basic US foreign trade statistics and the course of the trade war with China. The last chapter deals with the evaluation of the second chapter and fulfills the aim of the work through the evaluation of selected points of President Trump's trade agenda and the future development of US foreign trade.
