Research options of a new company global platform

Abstract:

Táto práca analyzuje možnosti a schopnosti novej firemnej globálnej platformy v rámci štandardného projektového procesu pre špeficického zákazníka. Nová platforma naskytuje možnosti pre zlepšovanie procesu a príležitosti pre automatizáciu činností – je vhodné definovať projektové a procesné požiadavky a vybudovať upravený proces. Práca je vypracovaná z produkčného a čiastočne finančného hľadiska. Práca je zameraná na cieľovú skupinu z produkčnej sféry, rovnako ako na vedúcich pracovníkov na vyšších a nižších pozíciách. Prvá časť práce je teoretická, približuje čitateľovi lokalizačný priemysel, históriu, ako sa vyvinul do súčasnej významnej podoby a ďalej približuje súčasné trendy a praktiky. Nasleduje všeobecný prehľad firmy a vzťahu medzi zákazníkom a dodávateľom. Čitateľ sa ďalej dozvie o celofiremnej platforme, motivácií, ktorá stojí za touto ideou, o jej zmysle a cieľoch. Vývoj platformy je úzko naviazaný na praktickú časť, ktorá zahrňuje analýzu vybraného procesu, jeho rozdelenie na jednotlivé aktivity a analýzu dopadu nasadenia novej platformy na daný proces. Praktická časť zahrňuje aj návrh nového procesu, ktorý využíva novú platformu, pričom definuje aktivity, ktoré sú vhodné na zdokonalenie a zahrňuje samotné nasadenie daného zdokolaneného procesu.

Abstract:

This work analyzes options and capabilities of a new company global platform within a standard project workflow of a specific client. New platform opens a window for process improvements and automation opportunities; definition of a project and a platform requirements and building the modified workflow is vital. The work is elaborated mostly from an executive and partially from financial point of view. The targeted audience is both executives with IT background and individuals in high and low managerial positions. The first part of the paper is a theoretical part that introduces the reader to the localization world, its history, how it evolved into the big industry of the present and its current trends and practices. This information is followed by a general introduction to the company and the definition of the vendor-client relationship. The intermediate part introduces the new company-wide platform, what is the motivation behind idea the platform represents, followed by its purpose and its goals. The development of the platform is directly tied to the practical part that encompasses analyzing a selected project workflow in the specified organization, breaking down the individual activities in the process and analyzing the impact of platform deployment on the process. Practical part concludes in designing a new process, which involves the global platform, while defining activities that are subject of potential improvement and deploying the improved process into day to day work of the team.
