Evaluation of functional involvement in patients with knee osteoarthrosis

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem průzkumného šetření bylo zhodnotit funkční postižení u pacientů s gonartrózou, kteří podstoupili operaci postiženého kolene. Metodika: Průzkumný soubor tvořilo 114 pacientů před plánovanou operací kolenního kloubu, kteří byli v období od 15.10.2013 do 31.1.2014, hospitalizováni na ortopedické klinice Fakultní nemocnice Olomouc. Pro sběr dat byl využit standardizovaný WOMAC dotazník, který je složen ze tří částí. V dotazníku jsou uvedeny otázky na bolest kloubu, ztuhlost kloubu a obtíže při běžných denních aktivitách. Čtvrtá část dotazníku obsahovala otázky na zjištění pohlaví pacienta, věk, operovanou stranu, sociální situaci, přidružené onemocnění, zaměstnání, bolesti jiných kloubů a trvání bolesti operovaného kloubu. Dotazník pacienti vyplňovali sami, nebo s dopomocí všeobecných sester, před operací. Výsledky: Šetřením bylo zjištěno, že pacienti před artroskopickou operací udávají menší bolesti, ztuhlosti kloubu a menší obtíže při běžných aktivitách, než pacienti před totálními endoprotézami kolenních kloubů. Závěr: V hodnocení nebyly shledány žádné výrazné rozdíly mezi jednotlivými komponenty dotazníku. Dotazník WOMAC je možno využít při hodnocení funkčního postižení u pacientů s gonartrózou.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the research investigation was to evaluate functional disability of patients with gonarthrosis who underwent an operation on an affected knee. Methodology: There were 114 patients before the planned surgery of the knee joint in the investigated group. The patients were hospitalized from 15 October 2013 to 31 January 2014at the Department of Orthopaedicsin University Hospital Olomouc.The acquisition of datawas made with a standardized WOMAC questionnaire which consists of three parts.There are questions about joint pain, joint stiffness, and difficulties indaily activities. The fourth part of the questionnaire contained questions about patient´s sex, age, operated side, social situation, associated illness, occupation, other joints pain, and duration of the pain of the operated joint. The questionnaire was filled by the patients themselves, or with help of nurses, before the surgery. Results: It was found out by the research that patients before the arthroscopic surgery indicate less pain, less stiffness and fewer difficulties in daily life than patients before total endoprosthesis of the knee joint. Conclusion: There were no significant differences between the components of the questionnaire. It is possible to use the WOMAC questionnaire in evaluation of the functional disability of patients with gonarthrosis.
