The effectiveness of the deterrent effect and the theory of social control in relation to delinquency

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá studiem účinnosti deterenční teorie a teorie sociální kontroly ve vztahu k nejčastěji páchaným trestným činům a přestupkům v ČR. Teoretické ukotvení nabízí dvě studie 90. let 20.stol., které svými zjištěními přispěly k prohloubení pochopení deviační problematiky. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. V první, teoretické části, jsou podrobně vysvětleny dané teorie. Dále je popsán jejich vznik, vývoj a současné pojetí. Je zde také představen vývoj výzkumu kriminologie v českých podmínkách a jeho současné směry. Druhá, praktická část, je kvantitativním výzkumem, který za pomoci online dat z dotazníkového šetření zkoumá vliv daných teorií na nejčastějších trestných činech a přestupcích. Cílem práce je porozumět spojení mezi vnímanou závažností, dopadením, strachem ze sociální reprobace a strachem z profesního či studijního ohrožení ve vztahu k protiprávnímu jednání.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the study of the effectiveness of deterrence theory and the theory of social control in relation to the most frequently committed crimes and offenses in the Czech Republic. Theoretical grounding is offered by two studies of the 1990s, which contribute to a deeper understanding of criminology and the study of deviance. The study is divided into two main parts. In the first theoretical part, the theories are explained in detail. Furthermore, their origin, development and current concept are described. There are also presents the development of criminology research in the Czech conditions and its current trends. The second practical part, is a quantitative research which, with online data from a questionnaire survey, examines the influence of the theories on the most common crimes and offenses in Czech. The aim of the thesis is to understand the connection between the perceived severity, perceived certainty, formal punishment, occupational or study sanctions and social/peer sanctions in connection with illegal acts.
