Abstract:

Pro využití dat v metrických prostorech je potřeba efektivní reprezentace metrických regionů. Metrický obal je jednou z nově zkoumaných implementací, popisující metrický region za pomoci pouze několika málo objektů z tohoto regionu. Jelikož jsou data ve vysokodimenzionálních prostorech těžko oddělitelná, navrhujeme upravenou definici metrického obalu tak, abychom omezili jejich překryvy. Vhodnost navržených ε-modifikací obalů byla ověřena experimentálně na syntetických i reálných datasetech. Dosáhli jsme průměrně 16% snížení překryvů regionů za použití inkrementálního algoritmu na hladině významnosti dvouvýběrového Wilcoxonova testu 0.05. Očekáváme, že tyto výsledky budou využívány při dalším výzkumu metrických obalů, zejména při vytváření a následném prohledávání MH-stromů.

Abstract:

For the serviceability of data in metric spaces, we need an effective representation of metric regions. A metric hull is one of the recently discovered implementations, describing the metric region with only a few objects from the region. As the data in high-dimension spaces are typically hard to separate, we propose a redesign of the hull representation definition to produce less overlapping regions. The viability of the proposed ε-modified hulls was verified on synthetic and real-life datasets against the original hull. We have reached an average of 16% smaller region overlaps on real-life datasets with the incremental algorithm, a better result on significance level of 0.05 with Wilcoxon signed test. We believe these findings will have a large impact on further metric hull research, namely on building and searching in the MH-tree index structure.
