Analysis of key factors affecting fertility and the impacts on the evolution of fertility in Czech Republic between 2000 and 2021

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá zkoumáním vývoje porodnosti v České republice v letech 2000 až 2021 a identifikací klíčových faktorů, které ovlivňují porodnost. Hlavním cílem této práce je zjištění hlavních determinantů ovlivňujících porodnost a následné určení dopadů těchto determinantů na porodnost. V teoretické části jsou dle literární rešerše vymezeny základní pojmy z oblasti porodnosti a rodinné a sociální politiky. Praktická část nejprve zkoumá vývoj porodnosti a změny typu rodin. Následně je zde pomocí regresní analýzy zkoumán vliv výše dávek pro rodiny s dětmi na porodnost. Později jsou prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření určeny hlavní faktory, které ovlivňují porodnost. S použitím regresní analýzy je rovněž otestováno, zda dopady těchto hlavních vybraných vlivů na porodnost jsou měřitelné a významné. Vlastní výzkum je dále doplněn již existujícími studiemi odborníků na toto téma. Ze zkoumání vyplynulo, že rodinnému životu konkuruje mnoho jiných možností, jak trávit volný čas. Rovněž vyplynulo, že Česká republika má málo dostupné péče pro děti předškolního věku a mnoho lidí také vidí problém ve vysokých cenách bydlení a životních nákladů. Z těchto důvodů byla v závěru práce navržena možná doporučení, která by mohla přispět ke zvýšení porodnosti v České republice.

Abstract:

This master thesis examines the development of fertility in the Czech Republic between 2000 and 2021 and identifies key factors that influence fertility. The main objective of this thesis is to identify the main determinants affecting fertility and then to determine the impact of these determinants on fertility. In the theoretical part, the basic concepts of fertility and family and social policy are defined according to the literature review. The practical part first examines the evolution of fertility and changes in the type of families. Subsequently, the effect of the level of benefits for families with children on fertility is examined using regression analysis. Later, the main factors that influence fertility are identified through a questionnaire survey. Using regression analysis, it is also tested whether the impacts of these main selected effects on fertility are measurable and significant. The research itself is further complemented by existing studies by experts on the subject. The research shows that family life competes with many other leisure activities. It also emerged that the Czech Republic has little affordable childcare for pre-school children and many people also see high housing and living costs as a problem. For these reasons, the thesis concludes by suggesting possible recommendations that could help to increase the birth rate in the Czech Republic.
