Evaluation of the going concern principle in the short and long term

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá principem nepřetržitého trvání účetní jednotky a jeho možným porušením. Hlavním cílem je prozkoumání vztahu mezi vybranými finančními ukazateli a výroky nezávislého auditora v souvislosti s porušením předpokladu nepřetržitého trvání podniku a vyhodnocení citlivosti vybraných finančních ukazatelů pro identifikaci možného porušení předpokladu nepřetržitého trvání podniku. Jde o vzorek 15 společností v insolvenci, u kterých byly analyzovány poslední 4 zveřejněné účetní závěrky před vstupem společnosti do insolvence. Veškerá data byla získána z Insolvenčního rejstříku v kombinaci s Veřejným rejstříkem a Sbírkou listin. Práce se skládá ze 4 částí. První část definuje pojem nepřetržité trvání účetní jednotky a jeho zakotvení v legislativě. Druhá část se zaobírá insolvenčním řízením a jeho postupem. Ve třetí části jsou definovány a popsány jednotlivé ukazatelé možného porušení principu going concern. Poslední a hlavní část práce se věnuje již samotné analýze datového vzorku.

Abstract:

This thesis addresses the principle of going concern for an accounting entity and its potential violation. The main objective is to explore the relationship between selected financial indicators and the statements of an independent auditor concerning the violation of the going concern assumption and to evaluate the sensitivity of selected financial indicators for identifying potential violations of the going concern assumption. The sample consists of 15 companies in insolvency, analyzing the last four published financial statements before the companies entered insolvency. All data were obtained from the Insolvency Register combined with the Public Register and the Collection of Deeds. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part defines the concept of going concern and its legislative framework. The second part deals with insolvency proceedings and their process. The third part defines and describes individual indicators of potential violations of the going concern principle. The last and main part of the thesis is dedicated to the analysis of the data sample.
