Similarity of family behavior in EU countries

Abstract:

Rodinná politika zůstává i nadále v kompetenci jednotlivých vlád členských států, a proto existují rozdíly v jejím pojetí napříč EU. Nicméně s druhým demografickým přechodem lze pozorovat sbližování států EU na základě rodinného chování. Cílem diplomové práce bylo posoudit podobnost členských států EU v jejich chování ve vztahu k rodinné politice pomocí vybraných demografických a socioekonomických indikátorů. Metodou k dosažení vytyčeného cíle byla shluková analýza a konvergence. Výsledky byly graficky znázorněny dendrogramem a korelačním diagramem. Výstup diplomové práce lze využít při rozhodování jakou rodinnou strategii zvolit na základě podobnosti s jiným státem.

Abstract:

Family policy falls within a Member States’ authority, therefore, there are differences in its interpretation, throughout the European Union. However along with second demographic transition, the convergence of EU Member States can be observed based on family behavior. The aim of this thesis was to access the similarity of family behavior across the EU, between member states. This was in relation to family policy through selected demographic and socio-economic indicators. The method for achieving the target was cluster analysis and convergence. The results were graphically represented by a dendrogram and dot chart. The conclusion can be used when deciding what family strategy to choose based on similarities with another state.
