The theme of religious tolerance in the work of G. E. Lessing: "Nathan the Wise" in the context of the theological writing "Education of the Human Race”

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of religious tolerance in the works "Nathan the Wise" and "The Education of the Human Race" by the German author G. E. Lessing. First, the thesis summarizes the context of the author's work, describes the basic ideas of the Enlightenment, and mentions important moments of Lessing's life. Further, a comparative analysis of the two works is given, which focuses on the depiction of particular religions, the expressions of religious tolerance, the motivations for tolerance and intolerance, the relation between sense and tolerance, the role of education in the tolerant thinking, love and tolerance in their connection and the link between religion and state. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the importance of the writing "The Education of the Human Race" to the interpretation of the work "Nathan the Wise".

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se soustředí na téma náboženské tolerance v dílech "Moudrý Nathan" a "Výchova lidského pokolení" německého autora G. E. Lessinga. V prvé řadě práce shrnuje kontext tvorby autora, popisuje základní myšlenky osvícenství a zmiňuje důležité okamžiky Lessingova života. Následně je věnována pozornost srovnávací analýze obou děl, ve které je kladen důraz na zobrazení jednotlivých náboženství, projevy náboženské tolerance, motivy k toleranci a netoleranci, vztah rozumu a tolerance, role výchovy v tolerantním myšlení, vztah lásky a tolerance a vztah náboženství a státu. Cílem práce je zhodnotit důležitost spisu "Výchova lidského pokolení" pro interpretaci díla "Moudrý Nathan".
