Students with Specific Learning Disabilities at University

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice specifických poruch učení u vysokoškolských studentů a absolventů. Hlavním záměrem, cílem této práce bylo zjistit, s jakými obtížemi se studenti se specifickými poruchami učení setkávají při vysokoškolském studiu a jakým způsobem tyto obtíže řeší. Teoretická část je tvořena dvěma hlavními kapitolami. První část se zabývá obecně specifickými poruchami učení, terminologií, etiologií, klasifikací a možnými primárními a sekundárními projevy. V druhé polovině teoretické části se soustředí na studenty se specifickými poruchami učení na vysoké škole. Věnuje se zejména vzdělávání studentů se specifickými poruchami učení na vysoké škole a kompenzačním strategiím studentů a podpoře jednotlivých vysokých škol. Empirickou část tvoří kvalitativní průzkum. Pro průzkumné šetření byl zvolen polostrukturovaný rozhovor, který byl uskutečněn se sedmi respondenty. Získaná data byla analyzována skrze metodu kódování, následně interpretována a shrnuta. Výsledkem průzkumu je charakteristika obtíží, se kterými studenti přichází do kontaktu během studia a zároveň popis zkušeností s tím, jak tyto obtíže řeší, kompenzují.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the issue of specific learning disabilities in university students and alumni. The main purpose of this work was to find out what difficulties students with specific learning disabilities encounter in higher education and how they deal with these difficulties. The theoretical part consists of two main chapters. The first part deals with general specific learning disabilities, terminology, aetiology, classification, and possible primary and secondary manifestations. In the second half of the theoretical section, the focus is on students with specific learning disabilities at university. In particular, it is dedicated to educating students with specific learning disabilities at university and compensating strategies and supporting individual universities. A qualitative survey forms the empirical part. A semi-structured interview was chosen for the survey investigation, conducted with seven respondents. The data obtained were analyzed through the coding method, subsequently interpreted and summarized. The result of the survey is a description of the difficulties that students come into contact with during their studies, as well as a description of their experiences with how they solve and compensate for these difficulties.
