Does women’s low income positively impact birthrate in the Czech Republic?

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je ověřit předpoklad, zda nízká mzda žen má pozitivní vliv na porodnost v České republice. V teoretické části jsou vysvětleny ekonomické i neekonomické faktory ovlivňující porodnost. V praktické části byla testována hypotéza pomocí regrese panelových dat. Do regrese bylo zahrnuto všech 14 krajů České republiky v letech 2011-2018. Výsledkem regresní analýzy je pozitivní vztah mezi porodností a mzdou žen, čímž by moje uvedená hypotéza mohla být vyvrácená. Statistickou významnost má i zaměstnanost žen na porodnost v České republice, který je také pozitivní.

Abstract:

The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to verify assumption if women’s low income positively impacts birthrates in the Czech Republic. In theoretical part are explained economical and noneconomical factors that influence birthrates. In the practical part of the thesis, the hypothesis was tested using panel data regression. The regression included all 14 regions of the Czech Republic between years 2011 and 2018. The result of the regression analysis is a positive relationship between birth rates and women's wages, which could lead to disproving my hypothesis. The employment of women has also statistical significance on birth rates in the Czech Republic, which is also positive.
