The use of visceral manipulation in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci je zpracováno téma "Využití viscerální manipulace při léčbě refluxní choroby jícnu". Hlavním cílem této práce je zhodnotit účinnost viscerální manipulace na kazuistikách pacientů s refluxní chorobou jícnu pomocí sledování vývoje symptomů získaných dotazníkovým šetřením před terapií a po ní. V práci je popsána základní stavba orgánových struktur, které jsou v úzkém vztahu ke gastroezofageální junkci a jejich vztahy k okolním strukturám. Je zde rozpracována patofyziologie refluxní choroby jícnu, její projevy, možné komplikace a možnosti léčby. V neposlední řadě jsou v práci popsány dvě kazuistiky pacientů trpících refluxní chorobou jícnu. Terapie byla prováděna paní Bc. Alenou Zapletalovou, terapeutkou zabývající se viscerální manipulací, za přítomnosti autorky této práce. U každého probanda byly provedeny tři terapeutické intervence skládající se ze specifických vyšetření a technik viscerální manipulace. Autorkou práce bylo provedeno vstupní a výstupní vyšetření. Výsledky terapií byly hodnoceny na základě porovnání symptomů zaznamenaných v dotazníku GerdQ před první terapií a týden po poslední terapii. Terapeutickou intervencí došlo k pozitivnímu ovlivnění pociťovaných příznaků. Nedošlo ovšem k udržení změn, které byly vyvolány bezprostředně po terapii, ale v omezené míře došlo k návratu některých symptomů.

Abstract:

The topic "The use of visceral manipulation in the treatment of reflux disease of the esophagus" is developed in the bachelor thesis. The main goal of this work is to evaluate the effectiveness of visceral manipulation on the case reports of patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease by monitoring the development of symptoms obtained by a questionnaire survey before and after therapy. This bachelor thesis describes the basic structure of organ structures that are closely related to the gastroesophageal junction and their relationships to surrounding structures. The pathophysiology of gastroesophageal reflux disease, its manifestations, possible complications and treatment options are elaborated here. Last but not least, the work describes two case studies of patients suffering from reflux disease of the esophagus. The therapy was performed by Bc. Alena Zapletalová, a therapist dealing with visceral manipulation, in the presence of the author of this work. Each proband underwent three therapeutic interventions consisting of specific examinations and visceral manipulation techniques. The author of this thesis performed the initial and the final examination. The results of the therapies were evaluated based on the comparison of the symptoms recorded in the GerdQ questionnaire before the first therapy and one week after the last therapy. The therapeutic intervention had a positive effect on the perceived symptoms. However, the changes that were induced immediately after therapy were not maintained, but there was a limited return of some symptoms.
