The Use of the Internet by the Terrorist Group Islamic State

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá užíváním internetu teroristickou skupinou Islámský stát (IS). Hlavním cílem práce je charakterizovat způsoby využívání internetu Islámským státem. V teoretické části práce si autorka na základě dosavadního výzkumu v oblasti stanovuje kategorie analýzy, v rámci nichž jsou postupně představovány nejužívanější internetové nástroje. Každá kategorie zároveň poukazuje na posun vykonávání teroristických činností z fyzického prostoru do virtuálního. V závěru práce jsou jmenovány hlavní přínosy využívání internetových nástrojů pro Islámský stát.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the use of Internet by the terrorist group the Islamic State. The main aim of the study is to characterize the main ways of usage of the Internet by the Islamic State. Based on the existing research of the issue, the analysis categories are set in the theoretical part of the thesis. The analysis continually introduces the most-used Internet tools in each category. The categories also deal with the shift of the pursuit of terrorist activities from physical environment to cyberspace. At the end, the thesis also names main advantages of using the Internet tools for the Islamic State.
