Topics and methodological procedures in diploma theses in the field of Andragogy at three selected Faculty of Arts in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce bylo vyhledat a následně analyzovat všechny magisterské diplomové práce obhájené na třech vybraných Filozofických fakultách v oboru Andragogika. Záměrem bylo zjistit, jaká výzkumná témata a jaké metody sběru dat studenti v diplomových pracích napříč univerzitami a v průběhu jednotlivých let využívají. Dále měla tato práce za cíl zjistit, jaké existují rozdíly mezi vybranými akademickými pracovišti. K naplnění takto stanoveného cíle byla zvolena kvantitativní obsahová analýza vybraných diplomových prací. Tato práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. První teoretická část se zabývá definováním andragogiky jako vědního oboru, možnostmi studia této vědní disciplíny na vysokých školách v ČR a charakteristikami andragogického výzkumu. Druhá empirická část pak přináší výsledky realizovaného výzkumu. Bylo zjištěno, že se jednotlivá akademická pracoviště se od sebe liší historickým vývojem, přijímanou koncepcí, personálním obsazením a také obsahovou stránkou studia. Rozdíly se nacházely zejména v typech prací a v kategoriích témat. Co se týče metod sběru dat, zde byla data poměrně vyrovnaná a korespondovala s mezinárodními trendy v časopisech o vzdělávání dospělých.

Abstract:

The main goal of this diploma thesis was to find and then analyse all master thesis defended at three selected Faculties of Arts in the field of Andragogy. The intention was to find out what research topics and data collection methods students use in their diploma theses across universities and during individual years. Furthermore, this work aimed to find out what differences exist between the selected academic workplaces. A quantitative content analysis of selected diploma theses was chosen in order to fulfil the goal. This work is divided into two parts. The first theoretical part deals with the definition of andragogy as a field of study, the possibilities of studying this scientific discipline at universities in the Czech Republic and the characteristics of andragogy research. The second empirical part brings the results of the conducted research. It was found out that individual academic workplaces differ from each other in terms of historical development, adopted concept, staffing and also the content side of the study. The differences were mainly found in the types of documents and in the categories of topics. In terms of data collection methods, the data were relatively balanced and correspond with international trends in adult education journals.
