The translation of liturgical text in the mirror of skopos theory

Abstract:

Předložená práce se zabývá překladem liturgického textu, konkrétně liturgického formuláře východních církví (pravoslavné a řeckokatolické), a to v česko-německo-církevněslovanské relaci. Zkoumaným materiálem jsou převážně liturgické formuláře dvacátého století. Referenční osou výzkumu jsou jak teorie překladu uplatňované jak u religiózních textů obecně (hermeneutika), tak teorie zaměřené pragmaticky (teorie skoposu). Výzkum se zaměřuje rovněž na překlad liturgického termínu v kontextu výzkumu odborného jazyka.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the issues of the translation of religious text in the context of the Skopos theory. The main goal of the thesis is to outline the connection between the Skopos theory and the translation of the liturgical text. The thesis not only presents the translations of the Chrysostom Liturgy especially from Church Slavonic into the Czech language in the 20th century, but also primarily points out the implicit and explicit influence of the ST on the development of the translation production. Analogous translations into the German language are taken into account as well. There are presented not only the main theories of translation that we want to work with in the connection with the liturgical text, but on the general level, the liturgical religious terminology from the original to the target language with respect to its role in the context of the professional language is presented.
