Energy security of natural gas in Czechia and Slovakia

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je zhodnotit úroveň, vývoj a směřování energetické bezpečnosti Česka a Slovenska se zaměřením na zemní plyn mezi lety 2013 a 2022. Práce začíná teoreticko-metodologickou částí, která se zaměřuje na vymezení definice energetické bezpečnosti, význam zemního plynu, včetně jeho specifik, a metodologický rámec objasňující následné zkoumání našeho tématu. Druhá, praktická část práce se poté metodou analýzy a komparace věnuje konkrétním aspektům zemního plynu v energetické bezpečnosti Česka a Slovenska, a to z pohledu fyzické dostupnosti, cenové dostupnosti, zásobníků zemního plynu, koncepce plynárenství a kontextu politik Evropské unie.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis aims to assess the condition, development, and trend in energy security in Czechia and Slovakia from 2013 to 2022, focusing on natural gas. The paper begins with a theoretical and methodological section, which defines energy security, explains the significance of natural gas and its specific characteristics, and outlines the methodological framework for the subsequent analysis. The second core part of the thesis analyses (and compares with other relevant geographical entities) specific aspects of the energy security of natural gas in both Czechia and Slovakia. More precisely, the focus is on the availability, affordability, natural gas storage, the gas industry’s structure, and the context of European Union policies.
