Motif of death and dying in a Czech romantic short story

Abstract:

Předkládaná bakalářská práce zkoumá a analyzuje výskyt motivů smrti a umírání v české romantické povídce. První část práce je zaměřena na teorii týkající se českého literárního romantična a vymezení žánru romantické povídky. Také tato část představuje dva nejdůležitější autory českého romantismu, jejich život, tvorbu a inspiraci. Druhá část práce se zaměřuje na analýzu konkrétních literárních děl, v nichž jsou motivy smrti a umírání projeveny. Jedná se o díla od autora Karla Hynka Máchy (Marinka, Pouť krkonošská) a Karla Sabiny (Hrobník, Hesperidky).

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis studies and analyses occurrence of the motif of death and dying in the Czech short romantic story. The first part focuses on the definition of the Czech literary romantic and the genre of the romantic short story. It also introduces the two most important authors of Czech romanticism their life, work and inspiration. The second part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of specific literary works in which the motifs of death and dying are manifested. These are works by the author Karel Hynek Mácha (Marinka, Pouť krkonošská) and Karel Sabina (Hrobník, Hesperidky).
