Analysis of unemployment in socioeconomically disadvantaged regions of the Czech Republic in the years 2010-2021

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o problematice nezaměstnanosti v Ústeckém a Moravskoslezském kraji v období let 2010 až 2021. Hlavním cílem této práce je analýza a vyhodnocení vývoje nezaměstnanosti prostřednictvím ukazatelů podílu nezaměstnaných osob a obecné míry nezaměstnanosti. Přínosem bakalářské práce jsou mimo jiné i národohospodářská doporučení, která by mohla vést k lepšímu fungování pracovního trhu České republiky. Teoretická část práce se zabývá charakteristikou klíčových pojmů souvisejících s trhem práce, nezaměstnaností a státní politikou zaměstnanosti. Jsou zde představeny především druhy nezaměstnanosti, důsledky, teoretické přístupy a způsoby jejího měření. V navazující praktické části je nejprve stručně charakterizován Ústecký a Moravskoslezský region, jakožto kraje socioekonomicky slabé. Následně je provedena analýza podílu nezaměstnaných osob, která je pro lepší posouzení situace porovnána i s průměrem České republiky. Stěžejní částí jsou analýzy vývoje obecné míry nezaměstnanosti podle pohlaví, věku a dosaženého stupně vzdělání. Z vypracovaných analýz vyplývá, že pozorované kraje se i přes viditelné zlepšení řadí nadále k regionům s nadprůměrně vysokou mírou nezaměstnanosti, a to zejména z důvodu hospodářské restrukturalizace. Na základě zkoumaných kategorií je zjištěno, že nejvíce alarmující míra nezaměstnanosti se dlouhodobě vyskytuje u obyvatel ve věku od 15 do 34 let a osob s nejnižším dosaženým stupněm vzdělání. Doporučení vedoucí ke snížení nezaměstnanosti jsou proto zaměřeny na tyto skupiny nezaměstnaných.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis discusses the issue of unemployment in the Ústecký and Moravskoslezský regions in the years 2010-2021. The aim of this thesis is the analysis and evaluation of the development of unemployment using the indicators of the share of the unemployed and the general unemployment rate. The main contribution of the bachelor thesis is, among other things, to provide economic recommendations that could lead to a better functioning of the labour market. The theoretical part of this thesis describes important concepts related to the labour market, unemployment and national employment policy. It focuses primarily on the consequences of unemployment, its theoretical approaches, types, and methods of its measurement. Firstly, the practical part briefly presents the Ústecký and Moravskoslezský regions also as socioeconomically disadvantaged regions. Then, an analysis of the share of the unemployed is carried out. For a better understanding of the situation, it is also compared with the average rate in the Czech Republic. The main part of the thesis is the analysis of the general unemployment rate carried out in three categories - gender, age and level of education. The analysis shows that, despite a visible improvement, the regions still have some of the highest unemployment rates, mainly due to economic restructuring. The outcome of this analysis is that the most alarming rate of unemployment was detected among persons between the ages of 15 to 34 years as well as for people with the lowest level of education. Recommendations leading to the reduction of unemployment rate are therefore aimed at these groups of unemployed.
