Intelligence services of the Czech Republic (Czechoslovakia)

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zdokumentovat přehledným způsobem systém, metody, historický vývoj a terminologii týkající se zpravodajských služeb bývalého Československa a posléze České republiky. Z hlediska historie se jedná o čtyři základní období, a to období První republiky až do konce 2. světové války (1918 – 1945), dále dobu mezi lety 1945 – 1989, porevoluční období česko-slovenské federace (ČSFR; 1990 – 1993) a období po vzniku samostatné České republiky, tj. 1993 až dosud. Součástí mojí práce je i průběžný přehled soudobé legislativy vztahující se ke zpravodajským službám ČR. V neposlední řadě by tato práce chtěla poukázat na rozdíl mezi nedemokratickými a demokratickými tajnými službami.

Abstract:

The aim of my thesis is to describe as clearly as possible the system, methods, historical development and terminology related to intelligence services of former Czechoslovakia and then the Czech Republic. From the historical point of view four basic periods are in question. First, it is the period of the so-called “First Republic” until the end of the World War II (1918 – 1945), then it is the period between 1945 up to 1989, the post-revolution period of the Czech and Slovak Federation (CSFR; 1990 – 1993) and the period after the independent Czech Republic started its existence, i.e. 1993 until now. My bachelor’s final work is supplemented by survey of contemporary legislation concerning intelligence services of the Czech Republic. Last not least this work would like to show the differences between undemocratic and democratic secret services.
