Evaluation of the Growth and Harvesting Data of Non-Traditional Fruit Species of Dogwood.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá studiem růstových a sklizňových vlastností u netradičního ovocného druhu – dřínu obecného. Práce v literární části zkoumá původ tohoto keře, rozšíření druhu, nároky, které má na prostředí, růstové vlastnosti a technologii množení. Dále je zde popsáno chemické složení plodů, možnosti využití v potravinářství nebo v zahradnickém odvětví. Na pokusné ploše ústavu šlechtění a množení zahradnických rostlin na ŠZP v Žabčicích byl hodnocen sortiment šesti odrůd dřínu (´Elegantní´, ´Fruchtal´, ´Jolico´, ´Lukjanovský´, ´Vydubecký´ a ´Vyšegorodský´). Na souboru odrůd byly zjištěny termíny fenologických fází, velikost keře a objemu keře, velikost sklizně plodů, a vnější a vnitřní znaky těchto plodů. Vyhodnocovány byly délky a šířky plodů, hmotnosti plodů, podíl pecky plodu, hmotnost pecky, vitamín C, sušina a refraktometrická sušina.Výsledky, získané z měření byly zpracovány a statisticky vyhodnoceny. Podle odborné literatury a zjištěných výsledků lze doporučit nejvhodnější odrůdy pro pěstování v našich klimatických podmínkách.

Abstract:

This thesis examines the growth and harvesting characteristics of the non-traditional fruit species of dogwood. The work in the explanatory section deals with the origin of this fruit shrub, its distribution, the demands it makes on the environment, its growth properties and propagation technology. Then it describes the chemical composition of the fruit and possibilities for using it in the food industry or in horticulture. The selection of six dogwood species (´Elegant´, ´Fruchtal´, ´Jolico´, ´Lukjanov´, ´Vydubec´ and ´Vyshegorod´) was evaluated at an experimental area of the breeding institute in Zabcice. For each variety, we examined and compared the extent of the phenological phases, the size of the bush volume, the size of the fruit harvest and both external and internal features of the fruit. This last observation involved evaluation of the length, width and weight of the fruit, the proportions and weight of the stone, plus the levels of vitamin C, dry matter and refractometric dry matter. The results obtained from the measurements were processed and statistically evaluated. Through a combination of our results and reference to expert studies, we are able to recommend the most suitable varieties for cultivation under our climatic conditions.
