Comparison of developmental tendencies of Great Britain and Germany armed force transformations (in accordance with postmodern army concept of Ch. Moskos)

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá srovnáním vývojových tendencí transformace ozbrojených sil Velké Británie a Německa v období po konci tzv. studené války. Jako referenční model pro srovnání byl zvolen vývojový konstrukt renomovaného odborníka na danou problematiku Charlese Moskose. Komparace byla provedena se zahrnutím devíti zvolených vývojových proměnných: vnímání hrozeb, změny v misích a úlohách, struktura armád, armáda a společnost, vztahy s médii, armáda a civilní sféra, role žen v ozbrojených silách, postavení homosexuálů v armádě, odpírání vojenské služby z důvodu svědomí.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis deals with developmental tendencies of Great Britain and Germany armed forces since the end of so-called Cold War. As a referential paradigm has been chosen developmental construct introduced by respected expert Charles Moskos. The comparison was carried out via utilization of nine selected developmental variables: perceived threats, major mission definition, force structure modification, public attitude toward the military, media relations, army and civilian realm, women´s role within armed force, homosexuals in the military and conscientious objection.
