The influence of Economic Growth Indicators on Intellectual Property

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je seznámit čtenáře s problematikou ochrany intelektuálního vlastnictví a jeho determinanty. V první části je zkoumána podstata intelektuálního vlastnictví, jeho jednotlivé odnože a jejich historický význam, ale i význam pro současné globalistické uspořádání světa. V další části je pak na intelektuální vlastnictví nahlíženo optikou dominantních ekonomických a filosofických teorií a je zkoumán jeho ekonomický a morální vliv na společnost a na inovace, na jejichž rozvoji by se měl významnou vahou podílet. Dále je zkoumání podrobněji zaměřeno na ekonomicky nejdůležitější část intelektuálního vlastnictví, a to na patenty a jejich determinanty. Nejprve je posouzen světový význam patentů. Potom je na vzorku 54 zemí ukázáno, že na počet patentů mají velký vliv výdaje na výzkum a vývoj, bohatství národa reprezentované HDP na osobu nebo míra úspor v ekonomice.

Abstract:

The main purpose of this bachelor thesis is to acquaint readers with the problematic of intellectual property protection and its determinants. The first part examines the essence of intellectual property, its individual types and its historical significance, but also its importance for current globalist worldview. In the next part, intellectual property is viewed through the optics of dominant economic and philosophical theories. Its economic and moral influence on society is explored together with its influence on innovation which development should be a major concern. The next part of the thesis is focused on probably the most important part of intellectual property, namely patents and their determinants. First, the importance of patents throughout the world is examined. Then, on a sample of 54 countries, it is shown that the research and development spending, the wealth of the nation, represented by GDP per capita and the savings rate of the economy have a major impact on number of patents.
