Analysis of Economic Cycles and Factors of Competitiveness of Selected Scandinavian Economies

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je analýza ekonomických cyklů a faktorů konkurenceschopnosti vybraných skandinávských ekonomik. Podkladem pro analýzy, konkrétně SWOT, PEST a magického čtyřúhelníku byla použité data z oficiálních pramenů jednotlivých států, či mezinárodních organizací, jako např. World Bank. Jednotlivé státy byly podrobeny analýze základních politicko-právních, ekonomických, sociálních, technologických faktorů a faktorů prostředí. Práce dále osahuje informace z počátku celosvětové pandemické krize způsobené onemocnění Covid- 19. Na základě provedených analýz konkurenceschopnosti států Skandinávie byly formulovány doporučení pro zvýšení konkurenceschopnosti vybraných ekonomik. Mezi mé hlavní doporučení patří cílená pomoc postiženým sektorům zasaženým pandemickou krizí, investic do ekologie a moderních průmyslových technologií. Švédská ekonomika je v ohledu největší, norská a dánská ekonomika značně efektivní, islandská ekonomika je náchylná na probíhající krize a finská pro udržení konkurenceschopnosti musí dokončit diverzifikaci svého hospodářství.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse business cycles and competitiveness factors of selected Scandinavian economies. The basis for the analyses, namely SWOT, PEST and Magic Quadrilateral, was the data used from official national sources or international organisations such as the World Bank. The individual countries were subjected to an analysis of basic political, economic, social, technological and environmental factors. The work also includes information from the beginning of the global pandemic crisis caused by the Covid- 19 disease. Based on the analyses of the competitiveness of the Scandinavian countries, recommendations for improving the competitiveness of the selected economies have been formulated. My main recommendations include targeted assistance to the sectors affected by the pandemic crisis, investments in ecology and modern industrial technologies. The Swedish economy is the largest in the respect, the Norwegian and Danish economies are quite efficient, the Icelandic economy is vulnerable to the ongoing crisis and the Finnish economy needs to complete the diversification of its economy to remain competitive.
