Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá kontakty československé distribuce (v období znárodněné kinematografie) se státy tzv. Třetího světa. Výzkum je dělen do tří základních fází: Nejprve se zabývá otázkou možných cest filmů z asijské, africké, blízkovýchodní a latinskoamerické oblasti do československé distribuce a na základě dochovaných i publikovaných pramenů popisuje fungování orgánů Ústřední půjčovny filmů a Čs. Filmexportu vzhledem k výběrové činnosti a klíčovým souvislostem obchodu (uzavírání mezinárodních dohod o spolupráci, praxe výjezdních cest výběrové komise, distribuční vliv MFF Karlovy Vary, Filmového festivalu pracujících a brněnského veletrhu Filmfórum, obchodování se soukromými distributory). V následné kapitole jsou podrobně utříděny a komentovány skupiny distribuovaných filmů z jednotlivých zemí, ideologicky spřízněných (Čína, KLDR, Vietnam či Kuba) či naopak počítaných v rámci distribučních kvót mezi kapitalistické (Japonsko, Argentina, Mexiko aj.). Dílčím tématem při zmapování vývoje nabídky, srovnání zastoupení jednotlivých oblastí a proměn vztahů ve čtyřech dekádách jsou také případy uvádění autorských filmů proslulých režisérů a reflexe otázky reprezentativnosti výběru. Třetí klíčová část práce se pak věnuje typům distribučních kategorií, v nichž byly snímky uváděny (Filmové kluby, II. distribuční okruh, kategorie zvláštního využití, častá v případě vietnamských filmů z 80. let) a porovnává výsledky návštěvnosti filmů a jejich dobový ohlas ve filmových časopisech. Stopa, kterou řada filmů ze zkoumaných oblastí v průběhu období obtiskla do paměti československé divácké kultury, je trvalá (jako v případě uvedených filmů klasiků Akiry Kurosawy, Kaneta Šindóa, Satjádžita Ráje, Emilia Fernándeze aj.), mnoho filmů, z celkového počtu nad 500 snímků, však utkvěla v zapomnění, neboť byla do distribuce pořízena pouze formálně, v rámci vymezeného, státní politikou určovaného plánu nákupů. Text práce je (při využití metody orální historie) doplněn přepisem tematických rozhovorů s trojicí narátorů, účastníků dobové distribuční praxe.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on the contacts of Czechoslovak film distribution (in the period of state-controlled cinema) with countries of the Third World. The research is divided into three phases: First describes the possible ways to distribute the films from Asian, African, Middle Eastern and Latin American region and, using archival preserved or officially published sources, reflexes the functioning of the distribution system (the key role of ÚPF, Čs. Filmexport and commission for choice; the praxis of international film cooperation agreements; the position of IFF Karlovy Vary, FFP and film market Filmfórum Brno; dealing with private distributors). In a subsequent chapter are presented and commented the groups of distributed films from all the countries – ideologically related to socialist world (China, North Korea, Vietnam or Cuba) or counted by distribution as a part of the capitalist sphere (Japan, Argentina, Mexico etc.). A sub-theme in this part, drawing a map of distribution development, comparing the choices of films from concrete regions and the transformation of relation during four decades, are the cases of distributed author movies made by well-known directors and also the reflection of the question about representativeness of the choice. The third key part of this work describes the types of distribution categories, in which the films were exhibited (cinema clubs, II. distribution circuit, the category of special using, often for the case of Vietnamese films from the 80s), and compares the box office results and texts and critics wrote by the film magazines. The footprint, which many films of this context imprinted to the memory of the Czechoslovak film culture, could be deep (as in the case of famous films by Akira Kurosawa, Kaneto Šindó, Satjádžit Ráj, Emilio Fernández etc.), but many of them (from more over 500 films together), however, stuck in the forgiveness, while they were distributed just formally, within a defined, state driven distribution plans. The text is accompanied (using the method of oral history) by transcripts of the thematic interviews with three narrators, participants in the previous distribution praxis.
