Political Repression in The Works "Was bleibt" and "The Land of Green Plums" by Christa Wolf and Herta Müller

Abstract:

This diploma thesis treats the topic of political repression in the works "Was bleibt" by Christa Wolf and "The Land of Green Plums" by Herta Müller. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the development of events from the historical and political-social point of view, characterizes the principles, how the state security service was working in the German Democratic Republic and in Romania and presents the vita of both authoresses and their works. In the analytical part of the thesis a literary analysis of parts of both works is carried out which complies to given criteria. The summary of the thesis is dealing with the comparison of the examined works.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem politického útlaku v dílech "Was bleibt" autorky Christy Wolf a "Herztier" autorky Herty Müller. Teoretická část se věnuje popisu vývoje událostí z historického a politicky-společenského hlediska, charakterizuje princip a fungování aparátů bezpečnosti v Německé Demokratické Republice a v Rumunsku a představuje život obou autorek a jejich díla. V analytické části je prováděna literární analýza pasáží obou děl dle stanovených kritérií a závěr práce je věnován jejich vzájemnému srovnání.
