Competences of Nurses in the Field of Drug Administration in Intensive Care

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na problematiku kompetencí sester v oblasti administrace léčiv v prostředí intenzivní péče. Teoretická část popisuje a vysvětluje pojmy kompetence, administrace léčiv, dotýká se role sestry v oblasti administrace léčiv a popisuje problematiku podávání léčiv zaměřenou na podávání léčiv nelékařskými zdravotnickými pracovníky. Empirická část zpracovává data získaná od respondentů za pomoci kvantitativní metody formou dotazníku. Zjišťovány byly znalosti, názory a postoje respondentů. Kvantitativním šetřením spolu se statistickou analýzou dat bylo zjištěno, že nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání, délka praxe a věk významně neovlivňují znalosti kompetencí v oblasti. Dále, že nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání a věk neovlivňuje názory a postoje sester, kdežto délka praxe tyto názory a postoje ovlivňuje. Z výzkumu vyplývá, že ačkoli zdravotníci znají své kompetence, často je v praxi porušují, dále, že změny kompetencí jsou žádoucí a oslovení zdravotníci by ve většině souhlasili s jejich navýšením na základě zákonem daných norem, tak jak je tomu v zahraničí.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on the issue of competences in the field of drug administration in an intensive care environment. The theoretical part describes and explains the concepts of competence, drug administration, refers to the role of the nurse in the field of drug administration and describes the problem of drug administration for the administration of drugs by non-medical healthcare workers. The empirical part processes data obtained from respondents using the quantitative method in the form of a questionnaire. The knowledge, opinions and attitudes of respondents were investigated. Through a quantitative investigation together with a statistical analysis of the data, it was found that the highest level of education, length of experience and do not significantly affect the knowledge of competences in the field. Furthermore, the highest level of education and age do not influence the opinions and attitudes of nurses, whereas the length of practice provides these opinions and attitudes. The research showed that although health professionals know their competences, they often violate them in practice, and that changes in competences are desirable, and the majority of health professionals interviewed agreed to their increase based on the standards set by law, as is the case abroad.
