The Journals of the Russian Emigration Kontinent and Sintaksis: Conception and Structure

Abstract:

This thesis examines the conceptual frameworks, editorial policies, and structural compositions of two significant Russian emigrant journals, Kontinent and Sintaksis, which served as pivotal platforms for cultural, political, and literary exchange among Russian emigrants. Through a detailed analysis of the founders' pathways to dissidence, historical context of the third wave of Russian emigration, and the characteristic features of these journals, the study delves into their roles in shaping the cultural and ideological milieu of the Russian emigrant community. The research employs a combination of primary source analysis, historical-literary analysis, and comparative analysis to assess the impact of Kontinent and Sintaksis on the formation of the literary and cultural environment among Russian émigrés. It highlights the difficulties faced in emigration, the ideological and aesthetic divergences that led to conflicts and the resonant publications by V. Maximov and A. Sinyavsky that provoked reactions within and outside the emigrant circles. This work might contribute to the understanding of the complex interplay between cultural identity, political dialogue, and literary creation in the context of Russian emigration.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá koncepční rámce, redakční politiku a strukturu dvou významných časopisů ruské emigrace Kontinent a Sintaksis, které sloužily jako klíčové platformy kulturní, politické a literární výměny mezi ruskými emigranty. Prostřednictvím podrobné analýzy cest zakladatelů k disidentství, historického kontextu třetí vlny ruské emigrace a charakteristických rysů těchto časopisů se studie zabývá jejich rolemi ve formování kulturního a ideologického prostředí ruské emigrantské komunity. Výzkum využívá kombinaci analýzy primárních zdrojů, literárněhistorické analýzy a komparativní analýzy k posouzení vlivu Kontinentu a Sintaksisu na formování literárního a kulturního prostředí mezi ruskými emigranty. Zvýrazňuje potíže, kterým čelili v emigraci, ideologické a estetické rozdíly vedoucí ke konfliktům a rezonující publikace V. Maximova a A. Siňavského, které vyvolaly reakce uvnitř emigrantských kruhů i mimo ně. Tato práce by mohla přispět k pochopení složitého vzájemného působení mezi kulturní identitou, politickým dialogem a literárním tvůrčím procesem v kontextu ruské emigrace.
