Identification of the organizational life cycle stage as a basis for strategy development

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce je posouzení vztahu mezi fázemi životního cyklu podniků automobilového průmyslu ČR a pravděpodobností úpadku. Analýza současného stavu zkoumané problematiky je zaměřena na tři oblasti zájmu, kterými jsou strategické řízení, predikční bankrotní modely a životní cyklus podniku. K identifikaci fáze životního cyklu podniku je využit navržený zjednodušený přístup založený na cash-flow jako vstup do analýzy vztahu mezi fází životního cyklu podniku a pravděpodobností úpadku. Pro tento účel byl vytvořen nový predikční bankrotní model AUTOCZE; nový model dosahuje z porovnávaných modelů nejvyšší spolehlivosti predikce. Podniky ve fázi vzniku čelí nejvyššími riziku úpadku podniku; naopak nejnižšími riziku úpadku jsou vystaveny podniky ve fázi růstu a zralosti, z čehož vyplývá nutnost volby adekvátní strategie.

Abstract:

The main purpose of the thesis is to examine the relationship between the organizational life cycle phases of Czech automotive companies and the probability of bankruptcy. The analysis of the current state is focused on three areas of interest, which are strategic management, bankruptcy prediction models and the organizational life cycle. The proposed simplified cash flow based approach is used to identify the life cycle phase of the company as n input to the analysis of the relationship between the life cycle phase of the company and the probability of bankruptcy. For this purpose, a new ankruptcy prediction model, AUTOCZE, was developed; the new model achieves the highest prediction reliability among the compared models. Companies in the birth phase face the highest risk of bankruptcy; on the other hand, companies in the growth and maturity phase face the lowest risk of ankruptcy, which implies the necessity to choose an adequate strategy.
