The repressed man in the proses Kaliba's crime by Karel Václav Rais and The earth of women by Vladimír Páral

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá srovnáním mužských postav utlačovaných ženami v knihách Kalibův zločin Karla Václava Raise a Země žen Vladimíra Párala. Práce srovnává problematiku mužů utlačovaných ženami na vesnici 19. století a v představě o budoucí utopistické realitě o naprosté nadvládě žen nad muži. Hodnocení mužských postav v těchto dvou prózách se zabývá jejich psychickou i materiální situací (i před tím, než začali být utlačováni ženou), postoji k ženám a také způsobem, kterým je jejich problém autory líčen. Hlavním cílem práce je poukázat na rozdíl v Páralových a Raisových prózách i přes to, že zpracovávají stejnou problematiku. Práce poukazuje na odlišné postoje, možnosti a syžetové prostředí hlavních mužských postav.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focusing on comparison of male characters facing oppression from women in literary works Kalibův zločin (Kalib's Crime) from Karel Václav Rais and Země žen (Women's land) from Vladimír Páral. The work is attempting to compare the issue of men oppressed by women in 19th century village with the notion of future utopian reality in which women will acquire an absolute dominion over men. The evaluation of male characters in these two prose works is based on their mental as well as material situation (before and after the oppression started), their attitudes towards women and the ways in which the authors portray their problems. The goal of the work is to point out that there are differences in Paral's and Rais' proses, despite the fact that they are dealing with the same problem. The thesis is showing distinct attitudes, possibilities and environments of leading male characters.
