Needs of patient with malignant prostate tumor

Abstract:

Cil: Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit a popsat potřeby pacienta se zhoubným nádorem prostaty, a to v oblasti biologické, psychologické, sociální i spirituální. Dále pak zhodnotit kvalitu života nemocného s touto diagnózou. Metodika: Teoretická část bakalářské práce je rozčleněna do kapitol, které se zaměřují na problematiku zhoubného nádorového onemocnění prostaty a lidské potřeby. Empirická část popisuje formou případové studie období před vznikem prvních obtíží, počátek onemocnění a jeho průběh u konkrétního, záměrně vybraného pacienta s diagnostikovaným karcinomem prostaty. Informace charakterizující jednotlivá období života pacienta jak před, tak během onemocnění jsou chronologicky seřazeny v anamnéze a katamnéze. Data byly získávány prostřednictvím nestandardizovaného rozhovoru s nemocným a jeho synem. Informace byly rovněž čerpány ze zdravotnické dokumentace konkrétního pacienta. Také byla využita metoda pozorování a poskytnuté informace ze strany zdravotnického personálu onkologického oddělení. Výsledky: Práce popisuje více jak dvouleté období života pacienta se stanovenou onkologickou diagnózou. Během rozhovoru s nemocným bylo odhaleno několik problémů, které se týkaly jak stránky biopsychosociální, tak i duchovní. Také bylo zjištěno, že tyto obtíže působí na pacienta v negativním smyslu. Velký význam pro udržení kvality života pacienta se přikládá jeho rodině a blízkým přátelům. Závěr: Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na obtíže nemocného s diagnostikovaným karcinomem prostaty a na jeho specifické potřeby. Zároveň by měla pomoci personálu pečujícímu o nemocného s touto chorobou lépe pochopit jeho potřeby a docílit jejich co nejefektivnější saturace.

Abstract:

Objective: The goal of this thesis is to ascertain and describe the needs of the patient with malignant tumor of the prostate in the biological, psychological, social and spiritual areas and then to evaluate the quality of life of the patient with this diagnosis. Methodology: The theoretical part of this thesis is divided into chapters, which focuses on the problem of the disease of malignant tumor of the prostate and human needs. The empirical part describes, in the form of a case study, the period before the creation of the first difficulties, the beginning of the disease and its progression at a particular, deliberately selected patient who was diagnosed with cancer of prostate. Information, characterizing particular periods of the life of the patient with this disease both before and during the illness are sorted chronologically in the anamnesis and catamnesis. The data were collected through non-standardized interview with the patient and with his son. The information was also drawn up from the medical records of the particular patient. What was used as well, was the method of observation and the information, provided by the medical staff of the Oncology Department. The results: The work describes more than a two-year period of life of the patient with this oncological diagnosis. Several problems related to both biopsychosocial and spiritual were revealed during the interview with the sick. It was also revealed that these difficulties inflict on a patient in a negative sense. Great importance for maintaining the quality of life of such a patient is attached to his family and close friends. Conclusion: This thesis focuses on difficulties the patient diagnosed with prostate cancer has to cope with and on his specific needs. At the same time it should help the staff taking care of the sick with this disease to understand better their needs and to achieve their most effective saturation.
