Teaching biology and chemistry for students with severe visual impairment

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá přizpůsobením výuky biologie a chemie pro žáky druhého stupně ZŠ a studenty SŠ s těžkým zrakovým postižením. Je rozdělená na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická se v první kapitole zabývá charakteristikou žáka nebo studenta s těžkým zrakovým postižením. Druhá kapitola se zabývá přizpůsobením výukových metod této skupině žáků a studentů, a to teoretických metod, grafických modelů a praktických laboratorních činností. V praktické části bylo testováno šest laboratorních aktivit přizpůsobených této skupině. Tyto činnosti jsou nevizuální, tzn. probíhající děj lze sledovat pomocí jiného smyslu než zraku. Byly vyzkoušené u středoškolských studentů se zrakovým postižením a na základě tohoto vyzkoušení jsem popsala odborné a pedagogické aspekty jejich provádění. Výstupem práce jsou také metodické listy pro tyto aktivity, které mohou sloužit jako podklad pro učitele nebo studenty. V praktické části je také diskutováno využití nevizuálních laboratorních aktivit, hlasové sondy Sci Voice Talking Lab Quest (v současné době v ČR nepoužívané) a některých postupů tvorby grafiky pro osoby s těžkým zrakovým postižením.

Abstract:

The bachelor theses deals with adaptation of teaching biology and chemistry for pupils of second degree of primary school and students of secondary school (aproximately 12-18 years) with severe visual impairment. It is divided into theretical and practical part. The first chapter of the theoretical part deals with characteristic of pupil or student with severe visual impairment. The second chapter deals with the adaptation of teaching for this group of pupils and students as regards theoretical methods, graphical models and practical lab activities. Six practical lab activities adapted for this group were tested in practical part. These activities are non-visual, this means people can observe them by other senses than sight. They were tested on the secondary school students with visual impairmnet. and I described special and educational aspects of the practising of these activities. The output of the theses are also the methodical sheets for these activities, which can be used as materials for teachers and students. The practical part also contains discusssion of educational use the non-visual activities, the probe Talking Lab Quest (almost not used in the Czech Republic by now) and some procedures of making graphics for people with severe visual impairment..
