Nobel Prizes in Physiology or Medicine: Significant Milestones in the Fight Against Serious Infectious Diseases in Developing and Developed Countries.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na přínos udělených Nobelových cen za fyziologii a lékařství v boji proti závažným hromadným onemocněním, konkrétně bakteriálním, virovým a parazitárním onemocněním, jako jsou tuberkulóza, HIV/AIDS a malárie. Speciální pozornost je věnována zkoumání přínosu antibiotika penicilinu v léčbě bakteriálních infekcí. Práce zdůrazňuje významné objevy, které přispěly k pokroku v diagnostice, léčbě a prevenci těchto onemocnění. Prezentuje historický vývoj a vznik udělování Nobelovy ceny a seznámení s oblastmi, za které je tato cena udělována. Následně zhodnocuje dopady vybraných objevů na rozvojové a rozvinuté země. Závěr shrnuje informace o nejvýznamnějších objevech a jejich vliv na vymýcení, potlačení nebo snížení výskytu těchto závažných infekčních nemocí.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the contribution of Nobel Prizes in Physiology and Medicine combating serious infectious diseases, specifically bacterial, viral, and parasitic diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. Special attention is given to examining the contribution of the antibiotic penicillin in the treatment of bacterial infections. The thesis highlights significant discoveries that have contributed to advancements in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these diseases. It presents the historical development and establishment of the Nobel Prize and familiarizes with the areas for which this award is given. Subsequently, it evaluates the impacts of selected discoveries on both developing and developed countries. The conclusion summarizes information about the most significant discoveries and their impact on the eradication, suppression, or reduction of the occurrence of these serious infectious diseases.
