Divergent infinite series and their sums

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je shrnutí určitých součtových metod pro divergentní řady s aplikací na příkladech a popis dalších souvislostí. Je zde nejprve zadefinována nejnutnější teorie týkající se nekonečných řad. Následně se již zaměřujeme na součtové metody, a to přesněji na tři - Cesàrovu, Abelovu a Borelovu součtovou metodu. Text je doplněn o ukázkové řešené příklady, které čtenáři usnadní pochopení sepsané teorie. Aplikace těchto součtových metod, konkrétněji Cesàrovy součtové metody, je ilustrována skrze Dirichletovu eta funkci a Riemannovu zeta funkci. Použitá teorie určitým způsobem navazuje na problematiku nekonečných řad, proto jsou předpokládány jisté znalosti z matematické analýzy.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize some summation methods for divergent series with the application on examples and also to formulate other contexts based on these methods. We begin with a definition of the most essential theory related to the infinite series. After that we focus on the summation methods, more precisely we discuss three of them - Cesàro, Abel and Borel summation method. In the text, there are solved examples that simplify the understanding of the given theory. Application of these summation methods, more specifically Cesàro summation method, is illustrated by Dirichlet eta function and Riemann zeta function. This used theory in a certain way follows the problematics of infinite series, therefore some knowledge from mathematical analysis is expected.
