Comparison of internal and external factors of motivation between generations of table tennis athletes

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou motivačních faktorů působících na hráče stolního tenisu. Primárním cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit, které motivační faktory působí na hráče stolního tenisu. Sekundárním cílem bylo zjistit, jak se liší hráčská motivace napříč generacemi. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na představení sportu, motivační teorie SDT a generačními rozdíly. V praktické části byly vedeny polo strukturované rozhovory s 10 hráči stolního tenisu (N = 10) ve věkovém rozmezí 20 až 55 let. Rozhovory byly podrobeny obsahové analýze a získané informace byly pomocí diskuze zařazeny do kontextu předchozích studií. Výzkumem bylo zjištěno, že rodina hráče má významný vliv na jeho motivaci a jednotlivé generace se liší zvolenou strategií k budování motivace.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of motivational factors influencing table tennis players. Therefore, the primary aim of the research was to examine which motivational factors influence table tennis players. The secondary aim was to examine how player motivation differs across generations. The theoretical section focuses on introducing the sport, the motivational theory of SDT and generational differences. In the practical part, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 table tennis players (N = 10) ranging in age from 20 to 55 years. The interviews were subjected to content analysis and the information obtained was placed in the context of previous studies through discussion. The research found that the player's family has a significant influence on his motivation and different generations differ in their chosen strategy to build motivation.
