Evaluation of Educational Programs for Seniors Provided by the Veterinary Department

Abstract:

Autorská bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem Evaluace edukačních programů pro seniory poskytovaných veterinárním pracovištěm. Tento program vznikl na základě potřeby vzdělávání specifické skupiny klientů - seniorů. Cílem teoretické práce je nastínit specifika seniorů při edukaci a charakterizovat způsoby, jak naplno akceptovat do určité míry limitovanou samostatnost seniora žijícího se psem ve společnosti. Představujeme základní modely evaluace, pomocí kterých lze tyto programy vyhodnotit. Realizace edukačního programu pro seniory poskytovaného veterinárním pracovištěm vychází z autorovy osobní zkušenosti při práci na veterinárním pracovišti. Poznatek veterinárního pracoviště, že je nutné zcela odlišit přístup ke klientovi v seniorském věku, byl důvodem k zadání a realizaci edukačního programu pro seniory. Dotazníkové šetření se realizovalo u 75 respondentů, kteří se účastnili všech modulů a splnili všechna kritéria pro výzkum. Pomocí kvantitativního výzkumu byla provedena evaluace vzdělávacího programu podle Kirkpatrickova modelu evaluace. V diskusi poukazujeme na zjištěné nedostatky v oblastech edukace a uvádíme následné doporučení změn v programu.

Abstract:

The author's bachelor´s thesis deals with the topic of evaluation of educational programmes for seniors provided by a veterinary department. This program was created on the basis of the need to educate a specific group of clients - seniors. The aim of this theoretical work is to outline the specifics of seniors in thier education and to characterize the ways to fully accept to some extent the limited independence of seniors living with a dog in society. The basic evaluation models by which these programmes can be evaluated are presented. The implementation of the educational programme for seniors provided by the veterinary department is based on the author's personal experience while working at the veterinary department. Speaking from experience of the veterinary department that it is necessary to completely differentiate the approach to the client in senior age, was the reason for presenting and implementing an educational programme for seniors. The questionnaire survey was conducted with 75 respondents who participated in all its modules and complied with all the criteria for the research. Using a quantitative research the evaluation of the training programme was performed according to the Kirkpatrick's evaluation model. In the discussion there are pointed out the identified shortcomings in the area of education and provide subsequent recommendation for changes in the programme.
