Trade in Pharmaceuticals in the European Union

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá některými aspekty obchodu s léčivy v rámci Evropské unie. Konkrétně se soustředí na registraci léčivých přípravků, jejich označování a příbalovou informaci, reklamu a systém patentové ochrany, jež je léčivům poskytována. Práce si klade za cíl komplexně popsat vybrané stránky obchodu s léčivy, vysvětlit důvody, jež vedly Evropskou unii ke snaze o harmonizaci v této oblasti a zjistit, zda jednotná právní úprava v rámci EU přispívá k odstranění překážek ohrožujících svobodný vnitřního trhu.

Abstract:

The thesis is concerned with some aspects of the pharmaceutical trade within the European Union. Specifically, it focuses on authorisation of medical products, their labelling and package leaflet as well as advertising and patent protection. The work aims to comprehensively describe selected aspects of pharmaceutical trade, to explain the reasons which led the European Union to the pursuit of harmonization in this area and find out if the uniform legislation within the EU contributes to the removal of obstacles threatening the freedom of the internal market.
