Abstract:

Cílem práce je porovnat vztah anglofonní a frankofonní teorie překladu. Práce zkoumá, které součásti (myšlenky, memy, koncepty) frankofonní teorie překladu pokládá anglofonní teorie překladu za klíčové a jak to odpovídá sebepojetí frankofonní teorie překladu. Také zkoumá, které koncepty anglofonní teorie překladu vnímá frankofonní teorie překladu jako důležité a jak to odpovídá sebepojetí anglofonní teorie překladu. Reflexí memů v obou teoriích jsem zkoumala výskyt vybraných memů v klíčových publikacích anglofonní a frankofonní teorie překladu a šest vybraných memů v časopise Meta: Journal des traducteurs, např. ekvivalence, strojový překlad a normy překladu.

Abstract:

The objective of the thesis is to compare Anglophone and Francophone Translation Theories (TTs) in terms of how they reflect each other, i.e. what parts (ideas, memes, concepts) of Francophone TT the Anglophone part of TT views as crucial and how this compares with Francophone self-perception; what parts of mainstream Anglophone TT are, in turn, viewed as central by Francophone TT and how this is or is not in agreement with how Anglophone TT views itself. The comparison will be carried out by analyzing several canonical (i.e. generally acclaimed) longer texts (textbooks, overviews). As a supplement to this, research agendas in the English-written and French-written papers published in Meta journal will be compared.
