PERIOD OF EMERGING ADULTHOOD IN CZECH UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je prostřednictvím systematické analýzy zkoumat charakteristiky období vynořující se dospělosti a provést srovnání mezi americkými vysokoškoláky generace Y, tedy výzkumu z Clarkovi Univerzity, a českými vysokoškoláky generace X. Teoretická část se věnuje historickému kontextu a vývoji výzkumu v oblasti vynořující se dospělosti s důrazem na Arnettovy teorie. Výzkum je realizován pomocí dotazníkového šetření, které nám umožní získat jak kvantitativní, tak kvalitativní perspektivu na zkoumané aspekty. Výsledky této práce přispívají k teoretickému porozumění vynořující se dospělosti a poskytují praktické doporučení týkající se tohoto období směrem k českému pracovnímu prostředí a generaci Z.

Abstract:

The master's thesis focuses on exploring the transitional period between adolescence and adulthood – emerging adulthood, a concept introduced by American professor Jeffrey J. Arnett. The aim of the analysis is to compare the individual characteristics of this period among American Generation Y college students and Czech Generation X college students. This comparison allows insight into specific features of emerging adulthood in different sociocultural contexts and generations. The theoretical part delves into the historical context and evolution of research in the field of emerging adulthood, with a focus on Arnett's theories. The research is conducted through a questionnaire survey, providing both quantitative and qualitative perspectives on the examined aspects. The results of this thesis contribute not only to the theoretical understanding of emerging adulthood but also offers practical recommendations concerning the period of emerging adulthood in the context of the Czech work environment and Generation Z. Special emphasis will be placed on potential influences of Generation Z and changes in work paradigms that may impact the experiences of emerging adulthood in the context of Czech society.
