Analysis of the development of the insurance market depending on macroeconomic indicators

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá hledáním závislostí mezi vývojem pojistného trhu na vývoji hlavních ekonomických ukazatelů. Hlavní metodou této práce je korelační analýza. Pomocí této statistické metody se podařilo ověřit silnou závislost mezi vývojem celé české ekonomiky a vývojem českého pojistného trhu. Tato závislost byla změřena u životního i neživotního pojištění. Nejsilnější korelace byla naměřena mezi hodnotami růstu pojišťovnictví a hodnotami růstu celé ekonomiky v předchozím roce. Pojišťovnictví lze tedy označit za cyklické odvětví, kde vývoj pojišťovnictví kopíruje vývoj ekonomiky s ročním zpožděním. Podíl celkového hrubého předepsaného pojistného na hrubém domácím produktu se v horizontu deseti let téměř nezměnil. Pojistný trh rostl přibližně stejným tempem jako celá česká ekonomika. Došlo však ke zvýšení podílu životního pojištění na úkor neživotního pojištění. Porovnáním s jinými evropskými státy bylo zjištěno, že podíl pojišťovnictví na celkové ekonomice je v České republice podprůměrný a nižší je stále i podíl životního pojištění na celkovém hrubém předepsaném pojistném.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the search for dependencies between the development of the insurance market on the development of major economic indicators. The main method of this study is the correlation analysis. Using this statistical method was managed to verify the strong relation between the development of the Czech economy and the development of the insurance market. This dependence was measured in both life and non-life insurance. The strongest correlation was measured between the values of the growth of the insurance industry and the values of growth of the entire economy in the previous year. Insurance could therefore be described as a cyclical industry, where the development of the insurance industry follow the development of the economy with one year delay. The share of total gross written premium to gross domestic product in the next ten years is almost unchanged. Which means the insurance market grew at approximately the same pace as the whole Czech economy. However, there was an increase in the share of life insurance at the expense of non-life insurance. In comparison with other European countries, it was found that the share of the insurance industry on the overall economy in the Czech Republic is below average and mediocre is still the proportion of life insurance in total gross written premium.
