Emancipation of Roma in the Czech republic anf its consequences on integration process

Abstract:

Téma této práce je odhalení důsledků emancipačního procesu Romů a jeho dopadů na snahy integrovat Romy do majoritní společnosti v České republice. Emancipace Romů je v poslední době viděna jako nejefektivnější nástroj k řešení romské otázky nejen v České republice, ale také na poli zahraniční politiky. Česká republika vychází při řešení romské otázky konkrétně z dokumentu Koncepce romské integrace, přičemž emancipace Romů má sloužit jako jeden z hlavních kroků k jejich úspěšné integraci. Romové v České republice představují ve většině případech sociálně vyloučené jednice, se kterými se pojí mnoho problémů jako chudoba, zadluženost, kriminalita, špatné podmínky pro bydlení, nezaměstnanost ad. Cílem práce je kromě odpovědí na hlavní otázku poukázat také na problematiku vymezení jednotlivých pojmů jako Romové, co je romská otázka, v čem tkví problémy spolužití a jaké řešení této situace se nabízejí. Práce je současně zaměřena na problémy, které v důsledku emancipace mohou nastat a na úskalí, která vznikají při snahách Romy emancipovat jako „jeden národ“. Dopady, které emancipační snahy mají nebudou pojímány pouze obecně, ale vztáhnuty na jednotlivé subjekty jako stát, majoritní populace a Romy samotné.

Abstract:

The goal of this thesis is to find out consequences of the Roma emancipation process and its influences on afford to integrate Roma people into majority society in the Czech Republic. The Roma emancipation is in this time seen as one of the effective tools for Roma question solution, not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the field of foreign policy. To solve the Roma question the Czech Republic uses mainly the document Conception of Roma integration. The Roma emancipation should serve as one of the main steps to their successful integration. The Roma people in the Czech Republic are mainly socially excluded with whom many problems like poverty, criminality, indebtedness, bad living conditions and unemployment are connected. The aim of this thesis is not only to answer the main question, but also to point on the problems of definitions of basic names/concepts as Roma, Roma question, where are the difficulties of cohabitation and what kind of solution are possible. The thesis is also aimed on the problems which can occur in the result of the emancipation and on the problems, which arise when Roma people are tried to emancipate as “one nation”. The impact of emancipation tendencies will not be described only generally, but will be used in connection with specific subjects as the state, the majority society and Roma on their own.
