Abstract:

This thesis concentrates on six works published by three Scottish women writers, namely Janice Galloway (The Trick is to Keep Breathing, Foreign Parts), Kate Atkinson (Behind the Scenes at the Museum, Not the End of the World) and A. L. Kennedy (Night Geometry and the Garcadden Trains, Looking for the Possible Dance). The aim of this work is to comment on the way how (Scottish) identity is created and how it is connected to contemporary women's life experiences. The works also analyses how the three authors describe and write about these problems.

Tato práce se zabývá šesti knihami publikovanými třemi skotskými spisovatelkami - Janice Galloway (The Trick is to Keep Breathing, Foreign Parts), Kate Atkinson (Behind the Scenes at the Museum, Not the End of the World) a A. L. Kennedy (Night Geometry and the Garcadden Trains, Looking for the Possible Dance). Cílem této práce je popsat jak se vytváří (skotská) identita a jak je tento proces spojen se současnými životními zkušenostmi žen. Tato práce také zkoumá, jakým způsobem tyto tři spisovatelky o této problematice píší.
