Relationship of selected vertical jump parameters and isokinetic force in soccer players

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to verify and establish the existence of relationships between isokinetic strength of knee flexors and extensors and vertical jump height in professional soccer players. In the theoretical part, we tried to use the available literature to approach the given issue from the perspective of other authors. Professional soccer players FC Zbrojovka Brno (n = 12) were tested using the Cybex HUMAC NORN isokinetic dynamometer at two angular velocities (60 and 120°.s-1) and the jump height was determined by a counter-movement jump on the Kistler force platform. The selected isokinetic force variable of the individual muscles was the peak torque value, the vertical jump height in the counter-movement jump was determined from the flight time length. The data distribution normality was confirmed using the Kolmogorv-Smirnov test. Relationships between variables were determined by Pearson's correlation coefficient (r). We found the mean correlation coefficient between the jump height and the peak torque of the flexors at 60°.s-1 (r=0.65, p<0.05) and 120°.s-1 (r=0.63, p<0.05). We also determined the mean correlation coefficient between the jump height and the extensor peak torque at 60 °.s-1 (r = 0.60, p <0.05) and 120 °.s-1 (r = 0.63, p <0.05). The results of the study confirmed the existence of relationships between isokinetic strength of and knee flexors and extensors and the height of the vertical counter-movement jump, which reinforces the claims of the importance of these muscle parts during the vertical jump as one of the limiting factors of the soccer performance. Given the low number of individuals studied and the large variability of similar studies, we recommend further and more extensive research.

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo ověřit a stanovit existenci vztahů mezi isokinetickou sílou flexorů a extenzorů kolenního kloubu a výškou vertikálního výskoku u profesionálních fotbalistů. V teoretické části jsme se snažili pomocí dostupné literatury přiblížit řešenou problematiku z pohledu jiných autorů. Profesionální fotbalisti FC Zbrojovka Brno (n=12) byli otestováni prostřednictví isokinetického dynamometru Cybex HUMAC NORN v dvoch ůhlových rychlostech (60 a 120°.s-1) a výška výskoku byla stanovená prostřednictvím vertikálního výskoku s protipohybem na tenzometrické plošine Kistler. Vybraná preměnná isokinetickej síly jednotlivých svalech byla hodnota maximálního momentu síly (peak torque), výška výskoku ve vertikálním výskoku s protipohybem bola stanovená z délky letové fáze. Normalitu rozložení dat jsme potvrdili pomocí Kolmogorv-Smirnovovho testu. Vztahy mezi jednotlivými proměnnými jsme zjišťovali prostřednictvím Pearsonovho korelačního koeficientu (r). Zjistili jsme střední hodnoty korelačního koeficientu mezi výškou výskoku a maximálním momentem síly flexorů v ůhlové rychlosti 60°.s-1 (r=0.65, p<0.05) a 120°.s-1 (r=0.63, p<0.05). Rovnež jsme stanovili střední hodnoty korelačního koeficientu mezi výškou výskoku a maximálním momentem síly extenzorů v ůhlové rychlosti 60°.s-1 (r=0.60, p<0.05) a 120°.s-1 (r=0.63, p<0.05). Výsledky práce nám potvrdili existenci vztahů mezi isokinetickou silou flexorů a extenzorů kolenního kloubu a výškou vertikálního výskoku s protipohybem, co posilňuje tvrzení o důležitosti těchto svalových partií počas vertikálního výskoku jako jedného z limitujících faktorů výkonu ve fotbale. Vzhledem na nízky počet zkoumaných osob a velké variability výsledků podobných studií doporučujeme další a rozsáhlejší výskum.
