Forest and shrubs of former forest-free area in the Bílé Karpaty Mts.along the north- south climatic gradient

Abstract:

Biele Karpaty v posledných desaťročiach opäť menia svoj ráz. Niekdajšie udržiavané bezlesie zarastá krovinami a mení sa postupne v les. Cieľom môjho výskumu je nepriame štúdium sukcesie krovísk v tomto pohorí po oboch stranách štátnej hranice. Touto prácou moja výskumná cesta len začína. Podávam v nej stručnú charakteristiku vegetácie krovín Bielych Karpát a spracovávam súbor 29 fytocenologických zápisov nazbieraných v uplynulej vegetačnej sezóne. Na základe druhového zloženia a ekologických nárokov som rozlíšila 4 hlavné skupiny. Prvé dve skupiny sú tvorené krovinou vegetáciou zväzu Berberidion Braun-Blanquet 1950. Suché a teplomilné kroviny prevažne odpovedajú asociácii Ligustro-Prunetum Tüxen 1952. Prítomnosť stromového poschodia však naznačuje pozvoľný prechod spoločenstva k lesu. Druhú skupinu tvoria mezofilnejšie staršie štádiá krovín asociácie Rhamno catharticae-Cornetum sanguineae Passarge 1962. V ďalšej zo skupín podobných snímok nachádzam najmladšie sukcesné štádiá zarastajúcich lúk, ktoré nie sú ešte krovinami, ale už sa nepodobajú ani prirodzeným lúkam či pastvinám. Nakoniec spoločenstvá poslednej skupiny radím k mladým lesom smerujúcim ku karpatským dubohrabinám zväzu Carpinion Issler 1931. V rámci tohto zväzu sa najbližšou asociáciou javí Carici pilosae-Carpinetum Neuhäusl & Neuhäuslová-Novotná 1964.

Abstract:

Shrub and forest vegetation of former meadows and pastures in Biele Karpaty Mountain Biele Karpaty Mountain has been changing through the recent decades. The former meadows and pastures are being overgrown with shrubs and trees, slowly becoming forests. The aim of my research is the indirect study of succession of the shrub vegetation in these mountains along both sides of the Moravian-Slovakian border. My work just begins with this publication. I give a brief description of the shrub vegetation in Biele Karpaty Mountain and I process a data set of 29 relevés. I divided the set into four main groups according to the species composition and their ecological requirements. The first two groups are considered to belong to the alliance Berberidion Braun-Blanquet 1950. Dry and warm shrubs of the first group include diagnostic species of the association Ligustro-Prunetum Tüxen 1952. However, the presence of trees indicates a gradual transition to forests. The second group is composed of more mesophylic and older shrub communities of the association Rhamno catharticae-Cornetum sanguineae Passarge 1962. In the next group there are probably the youngest successional stages of overgrowing meadows and pastures, which are neither a shrub vegetation yet, nor natural meadows or pastures. Finally, the communities of the last group belong to the young forest stands of the alliance Carpinion Issler 1931. The closest association seems to be Carici pilosae-Carpinetum Neuhäusl & Neuhäuslová-Novotná 1964.
