Economic and Social Conditions of Inhabitants of the Middle-Moravian Small Town (Drevohostice from the Late 16th Century until the Early 18th Century)

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje proměnám hospodářských a sociálních poměrů obyvatel městečka Dřevohostice mezi lety 1580-1735 s akcentem na dopady třicetileté války. Zejména je sledován prodej poddanských usedlostí, systém jejich splácení, průměrná doba jejich držení a vztah vlastníků k nim. Práce se stručně zabývá také historií městečka, jeho stavební strukturou, místními řemesly a zemědělstvím. Pro konec 17. a počátek 18. století je proveden exkurs do obecního hospodaření. Základními prameny jsou pozemková kniha městečka, urbáře, soupis obyvatel a obecní účty.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the changes of economic and social conditions of the inhabitants of the small town Drevohostice between years 1580-1735, consequences of the Thirty Years´ War are studied in depth. Transactions with the homesteads (houses) of subjects, paying instalments, length of the average period between two transactions, relationship between the homesteads and the subjects are studied primarily. The work also briefly describes history of the town, housing development, local crafts and agriculture. Municipal economy is studied for the late 17th century and the early 18th century. Basic sources are estate registry, urbariums, list of inhabitants and municipal bills.
