Foreign missions in Afghanistan with Czech participation in the context of the development of Czechoslovak-Afghan relations

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce ve svém úvodu zkoumá dějinný vývoj diplomatických vztahů, které vznikaly nejprve mezi Československem a Afghánským královstvím a dále mezi Československem a Afghánskou republikou v období po 2. světové válce. Zkoumá nejen politické propojení obou států, ale i jejich průmyslovou a kulturní spolupráci. Dále se zaměřuje na aktivní činnost nejrůznějších složek Armády České republiky při nasazení nejen v bojových operacích, ale i při poválečné obnově Afghánistánu a zdejším působení civilních expertů v nejrůznějších období tohoto procesu. Zkoumá úroveň jejich působení a snaží se o souhrnné shrnutí jejich působení. V širším kontextu zkoumá ukončené projekty a jejich následnou pomoc zdejšímu obyvatelstvu. V praktické části se pokouší pomocí dotazníkové metody s příslušníky Armády České republiky, kteří se zúčastnili zahraničních misí, zhodnotit celkový význam jejich působení v Afghánistánu a dosažení dílčích úspěchů, při plnění jim svěřených úkolů.

Abstract:

In its introduction, this bachelor thesis examines the historical development of diplomatic relations that were established first between Czechoslovakia and the Kingdom of Afghanistan and then between Czechoslovakia and the Republic of Afghanistan in the post-World War II period. It examines not only the political links between the two countries, but also their industrial and cultural cooperation. It also focuses on the active involvement of various components of the Czech army in deployment not only in combat operations but also in the post-war reconstruction of Afghanistan and the work of civilian experts in various periods of this process. It examines the level of their activity and tries to summarise their activities. In a broader context, it examines completed projects and their subsequent assistance to the local population. In the practical part, it attempts to evaluate the overall significance of their operations in Afghanistan and their partial successes in fulfilling their tasks by means of a questionnaire method and an interview with members of the Czech army who participated in foreign missions.
