The Status of Peru in the Andean community of nations

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá současnou hospodářskou situací Peru, která je znázorněna pomocí vybraných makroekonomických ukazatelů. Popisuje jeho vývoj od období říše Inků, přes španělskou conquistu, osamostatnění území a krátce se věnuje politice posledních 20 let. Zmiňuje Peruánskou odvětvovou strukturu, hlavní exportované komodity a hlavní obchodní partnery. Ve druhé kapitole je rozebíráno Andské společenství národů od jeho vzniku v roce 1969 do současnosti, je popsán vývoj jeho cílů, které byly zpočátku velice ambiciózní a přesahovaly reálné možnosti členských zemí. Jsou zmíněny také krize, kterými Společenství prošlo, a v neposlední řadě dosažené úspěchy na poli mezinárodní spolupráce, liberalizace vzájemného obchodu a prohlubování integrace. Poslední kapitola se zabývá analýzou postavení Peru mezi ostatními členskými státy, srovnává je na základě makroekonomických údajů a sociálních ukazatelů. Exporty Peru do zemí CAN tvoří pouze 5% z celkových exportů a saldo obchodní bilance má Peru se zeměmi CAN trvale záporné s klesající tendencí. Je pro něj tedy důležitý bezcelní dovoz ze zemí CAN a politická páka při uzavírání mezinárodních obchodních smluv.

Abstract:

This work describes current economic situation in Peru, which is illustrated by selected macroeconomic indicators. It describes the evolution of the Inca empire, through the Spanish conquest, independence struggle and briefly deals with the policy over the past 20 years. Peruvian industrial structure, main exported commodities and major trading partners are also mentioned. The second chapter includes a description of the Andean Community of Nations since its foundation in 1969 until the present, describes its development goals, which were initially very ambitious and beyond realistic options of the member countries. The work also mentions the crises, which has the Community passed, and finally achievements in the field of international cooperation, liberalization of trade and deepening the integration. The last chapter analyzes the status of Peru, among other Member States and compares them based on macroeconomic data and social indicators. Peruvian exports to the countries of CAN are only 5% of its total exports and trade balance with countries of CAN is consistently negative. Therefore it is important for Peru to trade without tariff barriers with the other countries of CAN and to benefit from the political leverage in international trade agreements.
